Putnam & Putnam's Paltrow flowers went to good causes!

Here’s how the arrangements they created for Gwyneth's Hamptons wedding went on to delight others too

Where do flowers go when the wedding is over? If they’re lucky, they go to Repeat Roses. This New York-based organisation collects floral arrangements from weddings, corporate engagements and other events. They break down the bunches, rearrange them into smaller, bedside bouquets, which they then distribute to hospices, cancer treatment centres, mental health facilities and other needy organisations. Once the blooms are done there, Repeat Roses retrieves the displays for eco composting.

It all sounds like the kind of undertaking Gwyneth Paltrow would support, so it comes as no surprise to learn that the beautiful floral displays that Phaidon authors Putnam & Putnam created for her wedding were passed on to Repeat Roses after Paltrow’s big day.

Putnam & Putnam, America’s most sought-after floral designers, posted a couple of more detailed shots of the arrangements, which included “buttery” Distant Drum roses from California’s Grace Rose Farm, as well as “the infamous" and "temperamental" (as Michael and Darroch describe them) Cafe au Lait dahlias, and dark local plum branches.

Putnam & Putnam were able to construct the arrangements in a shaded orchard - “the absolute dream,” they say - just before Paltrow’s wedding to Brad Falchuk, which took place at the end of September. We’re sure the happy couple enjoyed them, as did the many less-fortunate recipients who benefitted too.
