Modernist Cuisine's Nathan Mhyrvold and Ferran Adrià creator of elBulli 2005-2011

50 courses for Ferran Adrià - gone in 60 seconds!

We LOVE this Modernist Cuisine video of their meal celebrating Ferran and his new book elBulli 2005-2011

Here's something mouth watering to kick off the weekend. Back in March, as part of the book tour for elBulli 2005-2011 Ferran Adrià spent a day at the Modernist Cuisine Cooking Lab in Seattle, where, over the course of five hours, Nathan Mhyrvold (you really need to check out his Wikipedia page) and his culinary team constructed a nine segment, 50 course meal to honour the visiting chef.

Each segment was thoughtfully designed to ignite the imagination and speak to the incredible diversity of Modernist cuisine. Unexpected flavours and textures transported guests across the globe and back again, often playing on comforting, familiar dishes. The New York Times was there and reports on this extraordinary event in T: The New York Times Style Magazine here. The print edition is on news stands this weekend.

Meanwhile Modernist Cuisine have just posted a super cool video in which you can watch all 50 courses, in just 60 seconds, from the first cocktail to the final pour of absinthe and every bite in between. It's great. And if you're a fan of Modernist Cuisine (and why wouldn't you be?) you can check out our special elBulli 2005-2011 page with them in the shop now.
