Fäviken heads for the slopes

Next year one of the world’s greatest chefs is hosting a ski resort supper club - here’s how you can snag a table

Not many people take a skiing holiday for the food. The pizzas, sausages, fondue and gluhwein commonly served in most resorts while hearty, is not incredibly refined fare.

However, the Scandinavian resort of Åre, in Jämtland, Sweden, is about to welcome one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, as Magnus Nilsson is coming to town.

Nilsson’s Michelin-starred restaurant Fäviken will host a supper club in Åre from January until mid-April, while the restaurant proper, in nearby Järpen, goes into hibernation for the winter.

“We promise you great food the way we like to eat it ourselves, well mixed cocktails, generous quantities of the wines we like to drink, most at very low markups, plus the music we listen to when we want to have a good time,” says Magnus, a heavy metal fan, adding that said music will be played “at a rather loud volume setting of course.”
