Olafur Eliasson is opening a pop-up restaurant in Iceland

The artist plans to open in Reykjavik with his sister, serving the kind of food his studio workers enjoy every day

For the past 13 years now, the workers at Olafur Eliasson's studio in Berlin have enjoyed organic, vegetarian meals, served communally, at lunchtime, four days a week.

You don't have to be one of the artist's friends or collaborators to get a seat at the table. Eliasson and his co workers have offered food to skateboarders, free climbers, and members of the general public, as part of the studio's many collaborative workshop projects. However, getting a taste of Olafur Eliasson's studio kitchen will become a little bit easier this summer, when Olafur and his sister, the acclaimed chef Victoria Eliasdottir open to the public in Iceland.

Olafur and Victoria's pop-up restaurant, SOE Kitchen 101, will be serving customers from August 11 – October 31, in Reykjavik's Marshall House. Though Kitchen in Berlin does not serve meat, the Icelandic version will take advantage of its portside location, offering fresh seafood and fish, as well as other local delights, such as poetry readings, experimental jazz performances and choral recitals.
