Lauren Greenfield wins Photographer of the Year

Greenfield took the top prize in this worldwide photography competition for her work, Generation Wealth

The Paris Photography Prize (P×3) for Photographer of the Year comes with a $5,000 cash award. That’s not a huge sum for those featured in Lauren Greenfield’s book, Generation Wealth. her brilliant visual essay goes from the high schools of Los Angeles to the homes of Russian oligarchs, in its quarter-century investigation into the way in which wealth has changed society.

However, the prestige of this annual, global award - chosen by leading editors, publishers, curators and gallery owners – can't really have a price put on it. P×3 strives to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris.

This year, P×3 received 7,000 entries from 100 different countries, and it chose Greenfield as the winner of both the top prize in the professional book category and winner of the coveted title Photographer of the Year.

Generation Wealth
